Alternative Health Ideas: Using Essential Oils
Many people who dislike the idea of taking too many chemical laden and potentially addictive conventional medications are increasingly turning to alternative health treatments, including the use of essential oils to help treat all kinds of ailments – both physical and mental.
How are Essential Oils Created?
All natural essential oils have no added colors or perfumes and they are watery in nature, not oily at all, in that sense the name is a little misleading! All they really are is the extract of a certain plant of flower suspended in a water base. As they are very concentrated in nature a single bottle of an essential oil can last a long time, even if it is used on a daily basis.
Just How Do You Use Essential Oils?
There are literally dozens of different essential oils available today and they all offer different benefits. Some of these benefits are unlocked by inhaling a certain essential oil while others need to be applied directly to the skin or other affected area of the body in order to work their “magic”. Gently massaging the oil into the skin is often the most effective way to apply essential oils topically.
Essential oils, although not all of them, can also be taken orally in much the same way as you would take a conventional liquid medication, except often essential oils are best taken diluted in a glass of water, juice of milk.
Essential Oils for Your Physical Health
If you can name a common physical ailment there is almost certainly an essential oil that can be used to at least help alleviate its symptoms. And better still many essential oils offer more than just one physical benefit. Both tea tree oil and chamomile for instance have natural analgesic, antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Tea tree oil is often the only way that people find that they can kill off a stubborn nail fungus! There are also essential oils that can help relieve digestive ailments like flatulence, nausea, diarrhea and stomach pain and some can even help you improve your vascular and cardiac health.
Essential Oils for Your Mental Health
There are also a great many essential oils that can work wonders for common emotional and mental problems. Essential oils like rosemary and peppermint offer great energy boosting and memory improvement benefits while other essential oils like lavender and jasmine have a relaxing effect and are great for helping relieve the daily stress that almost all of us experience.Tags: digestive ailments, health alternatives, Alternative Therapies, alternative health, tea tree oil
