Raising Alkalinity in the Body Can Help It Fight Cancer

Modern medical research is showing that raising the body’s alkalinity can help with cancer, acid reflux, high cholesterol, diabetes, and other conditions. Strengthening the body’s ability to resist can be especially helpful with slow-growing cancers like prostate cancer. Slowing the growth allows more time for treatment and may extend life.

I often hear natural health fans talk about alkalinity. There are many success stories. But most people are not familiar with the importance of controlling alkalinity in the body, how it can improve health, and that researchers are finding new ways to boost your alkalinity.

Many of the things we eat and drink every day affect the body’s natural pH (the level of acidity versus alkalinity). That’s not usually a problem in the short term. But for many people, having a too-acid metabolism over long periods of time can contribute to serious medical conditions.

Knowing the facts and understanding how and why to raise  and maintain a healthy level alkalinity in your body can help you improve your health. It is not a substitute for professional medical care, of course. But it can help improve your overall health and may improve your chances of recovering from or controlling serious medical conditions, including cancer.

A new website called BoostYourAlkalinity.com offers detailed information for cancer patients and their concerned friends or loved ones who are looking for ways to help them. It also offers information on how raising the body’s alkalinity can help other conditions such as acid reflux, high cholesterol, diabetes, and so on.

It is worth taking time to learn the benefits of disease suppression by increasing alkalinity in the body. The site provides access to a wealth of research with a section called Research Resources. The most important link is to a Research Presentation that demonstrates the link between raising alkalinity and suppressing cancer.

The importance of controlling alkalinity in your body is also well explained in an article by the site’s editor, titled “Why Is it Important to Boost Your Alkalinity?” It is very detailed and well worth reading. The author tells his own story of what it meant when medical tests showed he had elevated psa, an indicator for prostate cancer, and what he did about it.

The website explains several methods of increasing alkalinity. its focus is the commercially available alkaline contrate solution developed from patents invented by Ignacio Cisneros.

Breast Health – The Great Debate!

Recently the news has been overloaded with information and opinions over women’s health and mortality as it relates to the use of mammography and self breast exams. With all of this information it is hard to find out what women should do to care for their body.

What are the guidelines to follow? Recent studies have documented that there is little to no link between self breast exams, mammograms and the actual mortality rate of women with breast cancer. In this article we will focus not on the answer to that enormous question, but on the ambiguity behind that statement.

It has been the standard provided by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) that women 40 or older have a mammogram with or without a clinical breast exam every 1-2 years to maintain proper breast health. This recommendation was based on two factors. (1) Clinical studies in women 50-69 demonstrated a 30% reduction in the breast cancer mortality rate when screened annually or biannually (http://www.acpm.org/breast.htm) and (2) the assumption that a women’s breast tissue at the age of 40 would yield similar results.

Unfortunately a similar correlation has yet to be found, prompting the new assertion that a women should wait until 50 to have her first mammogram. But is this right? Can one assume tissue changes occur in every woman at a specific age? And why is it important to this debate? Read the rest of this entry »

Healthcare Reform: The Best Health Idea Lately

Want to know the best new health idea lately? Making healthcare available to everyone.

Oh, wait! That is not a new idea. In fact, it is 100 years old. President Teddy Roosevelt, leader of the Rough Riders, outdoorsman, adventurer, Republican, was the first U.S. President to advocate healthcare for all.

While Canada and most countries of Europe have achieved that goal. the U.S. has been repeatedly prevented from protecting all its citizens from dying for lack of medical care. Nowadays 18,000 people a year die because they cannot afford health care. Some of them have jobs.

In other countries, like Canada and England, everyone gets free healthcare. A young American man I worked with had a sudden heart attack in his 30s while visiting his cousins in Canada. He said his care doctors and hospital care were top notch, and they cost him nothing.

As one British doctor told an American patient, “Call us selfish, but we don’t want you getting us sick.”

Yet Canadian and British doctors are well paid, have nice houses and cars and are happy with the system. When interviewed last year, one young doctor near London mentioned his $million dollar home and could not understand why anyone would think that English doctors are not well paid.

So here is a video of President Obama on Labor Day, explaining once again why we must have healthcare reform, and we cannot afford to wait while insurance costs, which have risen three times as fast as wages, continue to soar.

Notice as he says that while Americans are dying for lack of healthcare and being denied coverage or losing their insurance just when they need it most, some profitable insurance companies are being subsidized by the U.S. government.

Subsidizing the insurance companies? That alone is enough to make me sick. It has got to stop.

MRI Finds Breast Cancer That Mammograms Miss

Medical researchers now recommend not only mammograms but also MRI screening for women who are at high risk of developing breast cancer.

The MRI is not a substitute for a mammogram, since mammograms still show a few things, such as tiny calcifications, that MRI does not.

However, MRI screening for breast cancer is expected to save lives, especially of women with dense breast tissue that tends to hide some cancers in mammograms.

    Simple Herb Slows Cancer Growth

Just when European drug companies have made herbal remedies and potent vitamins almost impossible (or illegal) to buy in Europe, and U.S. drug companies are doing their best to catch up, there’s this news.

According to recent medical studies, black cohosh, a cheap, common herb that some women take to prevent unpleasant symptoms of menopause, actually slows the growth of breast cancer. I hope more people read this story and draw the obvious conclusion: We ought to be able to take whatever herbs and nutritional supplements we choose. Sometimes the old ways are the best.

We must not let corporations deprive us of the right to natural remedies that have stood the test of time as safe and effective treatments for which no prescription is necessary. Of course, healthy people don’t buy as many drugs. So natural remedies and good nutrition will never be popular with ruthless capitalists in a society dominated by corporate interests.

Hmmm. Maybe you should plant an herb garden while you still can.

Stem Cells to Cure Childhood Bone Cancer

Childhood bone cancer is a devastating and tragic disease. Despite the state of the art in current cancer treatment, bone cancer in children results in amputation for 80% of young patients.

But now there is hope. Promising new medical research in Britain, conducted on dogs (which suffer from a similar form of bone cancer) shows that it may soon be possible to use stem cells to cure bone cancer in children.
