Salt-Free, Fat-Free Yucatan-Style Fish Fillets

If you are trying to lose weight, or you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, or other health conditions that require changing your diet, often it can be tough to find food that you like. And if you are preparing food for a family, you don’t want to have to fix totally separate meals for different family members.

People often complain that low-fat, low-salt food is tasteless, but it doesn’t have to be that way. All it takes is a little creativity and great, fresh ingredients.

Here is a fat-free, salt-free way to make grilled fish that is simply delicious. These instructions make enough grilled fish to serve two adults and a small child, but you can easily increase the quantities to serve more people.

You will use no oil or butter, and no salt. Yet this dish is richly flavorful. It is wonderful served with baked plantains and black beans (the traditional side dishes), or with baked potatoes, salad, and any other vegetables you like.

Full Nutrition Info on Your Fast Food Receipt?

“Would you like fully customized nutritional info with that?” How about full nutritional information on your fast food (or other restaurant) receipt that even tells how many calories you saved by holding the mayo? Or how much fat you added by ordering extra cheese and bacon?

It may be coming soon to a drive-thru near you. Several restaurants are offering such receipts in California, and their customers love it. Business is up, and more restaurants plan to offer the customized receipts.

Five Cups of Fruit & Veggies—But Does It Taste Good?

A new super-duper nutrition bar hits the stores this Fall. Each bar contains “three cups of pure vegetables and two cups of pure fruit.”

It sounds highly nutritious, but I still have to wonder… Does it taste good?

Organic Meat & Dairy Better for Mother’s Milk

Eating organic meat and dairy improves the quality of a mother’s breast milk. No nutrition-conscious person will be surprised to know that. But it could be valuable news for many expectant and nursing mothers.

It’s great to see such stories covered in the mainstream media, especially considering the recent legal actions by factory farm corporations to keep organic dairies from labeling their products as organic. It seems the corporations think that gives the organic farmers an unfair advantage.
