When you want to lose weight the first thing you need to know is how much weight you want to lose and how long you want to achieve it. For example you might want to lose 5 pounds in a month. After you know how much weight you want to lose, then you should know how many calories you need to burn. If you want to lose weight, the number of calories which enters your body needs to be lower than the calories you burn.

Let us first discuss the number of calories daily that a person needs. The number of calories that you needs depends on your age, gender, and weight. The calories will be higher if you are male and heavier. Your calorie needs will be the most when you reach your middle age (18-35) or the most productive age.
