Ibuprofen for Fever, Fish Oil for Heart Disease, and More

Interesting recent medical research offers surprising news on several fronts:

* British researchers have found that ibuprofen is fastest at reducing fever.

* U.S. medical research shows that taking fish oil capsules with Omega 3 fatty acid is more effective for treating heart disease than the widely prescribed statin drugs.

* California researchers have found that having soft drink machines in elementary schools greatly increases the incidence of childhood obesity, because even a small increase in caloric intake results in weight gain for children. They don’t call soft drinks “liquid candy” for nothing!

Children Need Double Vitamin D!

Recent medical research on vitamin D has shown amazing results. As we mentioned in an earlier post, vitamin D helps prevent so many serious diseases that some are calling it the “new wonder drug.”

And now it turns out that children actually need twice as much vitamin D as had been previously recommended. Instead of 200 units, they need 400.

Doctors have now found that vitamin D in the higher dosages prevents not only rickets and other diseases in children that have been known for generations. It has now been discovered that high-enough dosages of vitamin D also prevent diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other deadly conditions. And unlike prescriptions drugs, vitamin D it is cheap and completely safe.

Furthermore, researchers say, the amount of vitamin D that children and teenagers need to be healthy is far too much to get just from food. Children (and adults) need to take vitamin D supplements to stay healthy.
